PSG 1 Real Madrid 2 (2-5 on aggregate)

Real Madrid cruised into the quarter-finals of the Champions League, at the Parc des Prince last night.

Taking a first-leg 3-1 lead to Paris, Real Madrid were always going to be considered the favourites to make the last-eight and that proved to be exactly the case.

Paris Saint-Germain, without the injured Neymar, never looked like recovering from the first-leg deficit against a Real Madrid side who tend to reserve their best performances for the Champions League.

Any hopes the partisan home crowd had of getting themselves back into the tie were severely dented when Cristiano Ronaldo rose to head home a fine cross from Lucas Vazquez to give Real Madrid a 1-0 lead on the night and a 4-1 lead on aggregate.

Paris Saint-Germain`s faint hopes of launching a miraculous comeback were further damaged when their midfielder, Marco Verratti, was shown a red-card after two yellow card offences.

However, Paris Saint-Germain were to grab an equaliser on the night, making it 1-1, but 4-2 on aggregate, when Edinson Cavani scored.

But Real Madrid rose to the challenge and finished off the current La Ligue leaders when they scored a second goal on the night, making it 2-1 and 5-2 on aggregate, when Casemiro saw a shot deflected into the net.

Having won the Champions League the last two years on the trot, could Real Madrid be set to make it a third?

I wouldn`t bet against it, would you?
