Real Madrid 0 Villarreal 1

Real Madrid`s La Liga woes continued this afternoon when they slipped to a 1-0 defeat, at the Bernabeu, to a talented Villarreal side.

The loss means that Zinedine Zidane`s side will be a staggering 19 points behind Barcelona if the current La Liga leaders win their fixture on Sunday.

Furthermore, the loss sees Real Madrid now being caught for fourth place by Villarreal and in danger of missing out on a Champions League place next season, if this vein of current form continues.

What makes he loss even harder to take was that Villarreal struck so late with Pablo Fornals scoring a pretty-decent goal just three minutes before the end of normal time giving Real Madrid little or no time to respond.

Real Madrid were the better team in the opening forty-five minutes with the best chances seeing a header from Gareth Bale being ruled out for an offside infringement and a free-kick from Cristiano Ronaldo hitting the cross-bar.

But Villarreal came more into the game in the second half and snatched victory in the 87th minute when they broke at pace, Cheryshev found Enes Udal who saw his effort kept out by Keylor Navas but with the keeper stranded on the edge of his area, Fornals produced the perfect chip to take the glory and the three points belonged to the visitors.

Worrying times for Real Madrid and questions could soon start to be asked about the future of Zidane!

Honestly it's very unfortunate that Zidane side lost to Vilareal. Zidane should better consider signing an attacker this january or else... he knows.
