Bale Misses Athletic Bilbao Game Through Injury

As Real Madrid battled away in vain against Athletic Bilbao, Gareth Bale was once again conspicuous by his absence.

After making his return from injury, as a substitute in the 2-2 draw with Fuenlabrada in the Copa Del Rey in midweek, the 28-year-old Welshman didn`t make the 18-man squad chosen by Zinedie Zidane for this fixture.

It appears that Bale, who set up two goals in the aforementioned game, is still having problems with his troublesome calf with Zinedine Zidane remarking on the official club site about the players condition ahead of the game,

'Bale hasn't got anything serious. It's just a bit of discomfort and we don't want to risk it.

'He's got real power and he has to be fully fit to play. With it being in his calf, we really want to fix this problem.

'We can't forget that he's a key player for us and when he's fit, he's capable of unbelievable things. We have to be patient.'

However, although Zindane had hinted the problem was nothing serious, there was a little confusion as to when we can next see Bale in action with the boss adding,

'That depends on him. I hope it'll be next week. I believe in Bale, as does everyone else,'

"The most important thing is that he feels fit enough.'

Could Bale be fit for the game against Borussia Dortmund, in the Champions League, on Wednesday, or is he set for another spell on the side-lines?
