Real Review - Alaves 1-2 Real Madrid - 23-9-17

Real Madrid's La Liga season continued with a win against Alaves at the Mendizorrotza Stadium the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

Despite facing a side without a point or a win this season Real overcame the challenge from Alaves to record a 2-1 win.

Making his first La Liga start, obviously arriving from Real Betis in the summer, Dani Ceballos put Los Blancos ahead when holding off a couple of Alaves defenders.

Alaves' first goal of the season came when Manu Garcia headed past Keylor Navas.

Three minutes after the strugglers drew level, Ceballos completed his brace. However, it wasn't plain sailing for Real as Alfonso Pedraza was denied an equaliser when his defected effort hit the crossbar before he then hit the poss.

Real also had a goal disallowed when Sergio Ramos' header was ruled out for an earlier foul by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Zinedine Zidane admitted it hadn't been Real's finest afternoon but he'll take the points and feels, when commenting post match and quoted by realmadrid.com, we'll be better next time.

'They had some chances, less than us and that's why we deserved the win, but that's football. It's poor really, to score two goals after so many chances. This was not our best moment but we got the three points, so have to be thankful,' said the boss.

Adding: 'I'm sure we'll play better next time. The key for us is to keep creating those chances. It's true, if you analyse the game with so many clear chances and we only came away with two goals that's disappointing, but the key is that we won and you have to admit that this side are really tough at home.'

Ceballos, ultimately the match winner, was also praised.

Zidane said: 'I'm delighted for him. He got his chance today and he's delivered a great performance to prove that he's more than up to playing for this club.'
