Cristiano Ronaldo Slams Exaggerated And Ridiculous Ban

Cristiano Ronaldo Slams Exaggerated And Ridiculous Ban

The Real Madrid joy at securing the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday was tempered slightly by the confirmation Cristiano Ronaldo's five match suspension had been upheld.

Ronaldo, sent off for collecting two yellow cards in Sunday's Clásico victory at Barcelona, feels he's being persecuted and unfairly treated.

His disappointment at collecting a second yellow card at the Nou Camp was evident and it saw him shove Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea in the back - a reaction that isn't acceptable but was it really worthy of such a suspension?

Not in the eyes of Ronaldo, forced to sit out the 2-0 Spanish Super Cup second leg win at the Santiago Bernabeu, which secured a 5-1 aggregate victory over Barcelona, as the Portuguese international feels the ban was 'exaggerated and ridiculous.'

He took to Instagram to share his grievance.

Ronaldo said: 'Impossible to stay quiet with the situation. Five games! It seems to me exaggerated and ridiculous. This is called persecution. Thanks to my team-mates for the support.'

With his suspension upheld, as a Spanish football federation (RFEF) committee dismissed an appeal, Ronaldo will, having obviously sat out Clásico on Wednesday, miss La Liga meetings with Deportivo La Coruna, Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad.
