Real Madrid Ready For Barcelona
Real Madrid will almost certainly face far more important meetings with Barcelona in the season ahead but any El Clásico encounter is one you want to win.
The meeting in Miami is no different.
When addressing the media in his pre-match news conference Zidane, quoted by realmadrid.com, said he was looking for Real to do as well as possible in America but the boss is certainly putting this in perspective.
'We are here to do the best possible. We are prepared. This is our third game and we want to grow physically. The players are getting better each day and we are ready. We want to prepare for the season and be ready for the 8th. We love being here, there are many Real Madrid fans here who are happy to see the players.'
Having a near full squad in place means Real will be pretty much at full strength, in terms of options, when facing Barcelona, if not at full speed fitness and performance wise, but pre-season has gone well enough in the eyes of Zidane, who has enjoyed the time stateside.
'I am very happy. We have the best players. We have already won here this year and want to repeat that. The squad is great and I don't want to change anyone. Everyone is here minus our number 7, Cristiano Ronaldo. It will be a tough year, everyone wants to beat us, but that makes it better for us,' added Zidane.
'We are really happy. The organization has been phenomenal and we've been warmly received. We have time to do what we want out on the pitch. The climate is different here but other than that we're happy with everything so far.'
He wasn't too unhappy following the heavy Manchester City defeat but again Zidane stressed it was merely the result and not so much the performance against the Premier League side that disappointed him.
Areas will need improvement and he hopes this comes against our fierce rivals.
'Tomorrow we will try to keep our focus from minute 1 to 90. In football, it all comes down to details. The other day we were content, but with the way we played and not the result. We were poor with dead balls and we need to improve that little by little.'
