Vital View - Champions League, 9th-10th May 2017

The Champions League season continued with the semi-final second leg ties played in midweek.

Juventus saw off Monaco, booking a place in the Champions League final where the Bianconeri will face holders Real Madrid, beaten on the night by Atletico Madrid but advancing from this Madrid derby to a third final in four years.

Here's a round-up of the Champions League action.

Tuesday 9th May 2017 - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - SEMI-FINALS
Juventus 2-1 Monaco 19:45

Wednesday 10th May 2017 - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - SEMI-FINALS
Atl├ętico Madrid 2-1 Real Madrid 19:45

Juventus, two up from the first leg, secured a third Champions League final in three seasons with a 2-1 win over Monaco in Turin, securing a 4-1 aggregate victory. That 2015 final was lost 3-1 against Barcelona, another Spanish club will be faced in Cardiff as Juve aim for a first triumph in Euro since 1996, on that occasion overcoming Ajax on penalties.

If Atletico Madrid were to turn the 3-0 first leg deficit around they would need something special. This looked possible with the host two up inside 20 minutes but Real Madrid weathered the Atleti storm, a 2-1 defeat on the night saw them through 4-2 on aggregate.

So, it'll be a Juventus-Real Madrid final, what a contest this could be in Cardiff as holders, Real, look to create history, becoming the first club to defend the competition in the Champions League era.
